ULTIMATE MACHU PICCHU ADVENTURE

General Information

Discover the Ultimate Machu Picchu Adventure!

This 4-day adventure takes you from the ancient city of Cusco to the breathtaking Machu Picchu, combining thrilling outdoor activities, stunning landscapes, and rich cultural history.

Day 1: Cusco to Abra Malaga to Huamanmarca to Santa Maria
Your journey begins with an early morning pickup at 7:00 am, followed by a scenic drive through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You'll reach Abra Malaga, a mountain pass at 4,316 meters, where you’ll change into biking gear (helmet and gloves provided) and receive a 20-minute briefing on biking techniques. Then, prepare for an exhilarating descent down quiet but challenging roads through diverse landscapes, from snow-capped peaks to lush valleys. After three hours of cycling, you’ll stop for a delicious picnic in Alfamayo San Luis, enjoying panoramic views.

After lunch, your adventure continues with a visit to Huamanmarca, an archaeological Inca site recently uncovered. Your guide will share the historical significance of the site. Then, you’ll descend to 1,500 meters, where the edge of the jungle meets the town of Santa Maria. Here, you can relax with a cold drink, savor traditional Peruvian dishes for dinner, and rest at a cozy family-run hostel. (Rafting is included on this day!)

Day 2: Santa Maria to Cocalmayo Hot Springs to Santa Teresa
Wake up to fresh indigenous coffee before starting your hike, which gradually becomes steeper as you approach Santa Rosa. Here, you’ll enjoy a refreshing break in hammocks while surrounded by coca plantations and entertained by playful monkeys. Continuing on, you’ll follow a traditional Inca Trail for about half a mile before descending further to the town of Qellomayo, where you’ll have lunch. From Qellomayo, a short walk along the Rio Vilcanota leads you to the natural hot springs of Cocalmayo. Relax your muscles in the warm waters surrounded by lush scenery before continuing your journey to Santa Teresa for the night at a local hostel.

Day 3: Santa Teresa to Hidroelectrica to Aguas Calientes
Start your day early with breakfast before heading to Colpani, where you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the valley. A short walk leads you to a restaurant in Hidroelectrica for lunch. Afterward, take a leisurely 2.5-hour walk along the scenic path to Aguas Calientes, the base town for Machu Picchu. After checking in to your hostel, enjoy a traditional Peruvian dinner at a local restaurant. This evening, rest and prepare for the adventure that awaits at Machu Picchu.

Optional Activity: Zip line across the valley for a thrilling experience near Santa Teresa. The zip line activity lasts about 2 hours and is included in the tour package.

Day 4: Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu to Cusco
Your final day begins early with breakfast before ascending to the entrance of Machu Picchu, where you’ll be one of the first visitors of the day. A knowledgeable bilingual guide will lead you through the breathtaking ruins, explaining the history, architecture, and cultural significance of the site. Visit key landmarks like the Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, and the Sacred Sun Dial. After the guided tour, you’ll have free time to explore, take photos, or hike to one of the nearby peaks.

For those seeking further exploration, additional unguided hikes include Inti Punku (Sun Gate), the traditional end of the Inca Trail, or the Inca Bridge, a short but fascinating walk.

After your time at Machu Picchu, you’ll descend back to Aguas Calientes for lunch or a dip in the local hot springs (not included). In the afternoon, take the train back to Ollantaytambo and transfer to a tourist bus that will return you to Cusco, where your adventure ends.

This tour offers a perfect mix of outdoor adventure, cultural immersion, and historical exploration, making it an unforgettable journey to one of the world's most iconic sites.
