Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Welcome to Cusco

Your Peruvian adventure begins with a warm welcome at Cusco’s Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport. You’ll be transferred to your hotel where the rest of the day is yours to relax and acclimatize to the high altitude of the Andes. Enjoy a leisurely exploration of Cusco’s cobblestone streets, vibrant plazas, local cafes, or simply soak in the energy of this historic mountain city.

Day 2 – Cusco City Tour

Today is all about Cusco’s rich past. On a guided city tour you’ll visit longstanding landmarks including:

  • Plaza de Armas

  • Cusco Cathedral

  • Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun)

  • Sacsayhuamán

  • Q’enqo

  • Puca Pucara

  • Tambomachay

Your guide will bring ancient history to life, showing how pre-Inca, Inca, and colonial influences shaped this extraordinary place. After the tour, enjoy free time to discover Cusco at your own pace.

Day 3 – Sacred Valley

Journey into the fertile lands of the Sacred Valley, once the agricultural heart of the Inca Empire. Highlights include:

  • Pisac Ruins and Artisan Market

  • Ollantaytambo Fortress

  • Chinchero Village

Explore massive agricultural terraces, learn how ancient people cultivated the land, and wander through charming Andean towns rich in tradition and culture.

Day 4 – Machu Picchu

One of the most unforgettable days of this trip! Take a scenic train ride through lush mountains to Aguas Calientes, followed by a guided visit to Machu Picchu, the legendary Lost City of the Incas. Discover temples, terraces, and plazas that showcase Inca genius, and enjoy free time in Aguas Calientes before your return to Cusco.

Day 5 – Road to the Amazon

Rise early for a scenic drive toward the Manu region. Along the way:

  • Visit the ancient Chullpas de Ninamarca

  • Stop in the colonial town of Paucartambo

  • Enter the cloud forest at Acjanaco

As you descend into lush jungles, wildlife views become more frequent. Tonight you’ll stay in a comfortable lodge near Pilcopata, deep in the rainforest.

Day 6 – Cocha Machuwasi

Your jungle exploration continues with a boat ride to Paititi Lodge, set deep in the heart of the Amazon. After a freshly prepared lunch, venture out to Cocha Machuwasi, a peaceful oxbow lake where you can spot monkeys, birds, reptiles, and possibly capybaras from a traditional catamaran. There’s also an optional night walk into the forest for wildlife viewing after dark.

Day 7 – Parrot Clay Lick and Return Journey

Start early with a river excursion to a parrot clay lick, a mineral wall where flocks of parrots come to feed, a spectacular natural display. After breakfast, you’ll begin your return drive through the rainforest and cloud forest back toward Cusco. Arrive by evening and enjoy a relaxing night in the Andes.

Day 8 – Farewell Peru

After an incredible week of culture and nature, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your journey home. If you’re continuing your travels in Peru, your guide can help with onward plans and suggestions!
